The Faculty of Science at Walailak University had the honor of hosting Dr. Andreas Kafizas, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Chemistry, Imperial College London, United Kingdom.
Dr. Kafizas delivered a special lecture for students in the COS62-443 Chemistry of Materials course, aimed at second- and third-year Chemistry majors. The topic of his lecture was “Advanced photocatalysis and use of in operando spectroscopies to study reaction mechanisms.”
Additionally, Dr. Kafizas conducted a seminar on “Developing scalable routes to photocatalytic coatings; exploring the chemical vapor deposition of metal oxide-based materials for solar fuel production and pollution remediation” for first- to third-year students, faculty members, and interested individuals from the Faculty of Science.
The events took place on July 23-24, 2024, at Walailak University.
This provided a special opportunity for students and faculty of the Faculty of Science to gain international research experience and knowledge in advanced chemical materials innovation and light-driven catalytic technologies for sustainability from an expert affiliated with a world-renowned institution. Currently, Imperial College London is ranked 1st in Europe and 2nd in the world according to THE rankings.
