In collaboration with the Walailak University Science and Technology Park (WEDA Incubation Center), the team won the prestigious Honorable Mention Cosmetic Innovation Award at the 2028 H.E. Fair (Aw. Fair) organized by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation.
The award ceremony took place on August 15, 2025, at the Central Stage, G Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, with representatives from educational institutions, research organizations, and private-sector cosmetic innovators in attendance. The event highlighted Thailand’s growing expertise in cosmetic innovation and the ability of researchers to compete on a national stage.
The award-winning product, Red Palm Oil Micellar Cleansing Water, is a cosmetic innovation formulated with red palm oil extract, rich in natural antioxidants, offering gentle, safe, and environmentally friendly skin care. The product integrates chemical research, material science, and environmental science with user-centered design, responding to modern consumers’ growing demand for sustainable and health-conscious cosmetics.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Piyalak Nooreuk, team leader, stated that the award reflects the collaborative efforts of faculty, researchers, and students, as well as the support from the WEDA Incubation Center. This recognition demonstrates how research can be successfully translated from the laboratory to commercial applications, adding value to Thailand’s agricultural resources.
This achievement aligns with Walailak University’s strategic focus on integrating science and innovation to address societal needs, providing students with hands-on experience, and fostering entrepreneurship.
