The Program in Mathematics and Statistics, Bachelor of Science, Walailak University, in collaboration with the Mathematics Department of Benjamarachutit School, organized a Mathematics Camp on 20 August 2025 at the Science and Technology Park. Approximately 30 upper secondary students participated in the event. The camp aimed to enhance students’ mathematical skills, cultivate positive attitudes toward mathematics, and promote integrated learning through a variety of engaging activities.
The camp emphasized mathematics project-based learning and the integration of STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to help students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. The initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, which promotes equitable access to quality education for all.
The learning environment was lively and engaging, with students actively participating in a range of activities, including creative mathematics games, analytical problem-solving competitions, hands-on workshops on applying mathematics in daily life, and group project presentations. These activities encouraged students to develop logical reasoning, teamwork, and confident academic communication skills.
Guided by the principle:
“This Mathematics Camp aims to inspire students and cultivate positive attitudes toward mathematics, helping them see it not merely as formulas learned in the classroom, but as a powerful tool for problem-solving and developing analytical skills essential for the future.”
One Grade 11 student reflected on her experience:
“At first, I thought mathematics was a difficult subject. But after joining this camp, I found it more enjoyable because I got to try activities I had never done before and discovered how mathematics exists in the world around us.”
This Mathematics Camp represents an important step in creating a collaborative learning space between the university and schools. It provided students with opportunities to experience mathematics in creative and modern ways, while reaffirming Walailak University’s commitment to advancing quality education and promoting sustainability in Thai society.
