The School of Science, Walailak University, is committed to providing students with opportunities to broaden their perspectives and develop essential skills through authentic international experiences. As part of this commitment, students from the School of Science participated in a one-month international learning program in Malaysia, from 11 April to 10 May 2026.
As part of the program, students enrolled in SCI67-300 Science Communication at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Perlis, Malaysia. They explored science communication in real-world contexts while developing skills in critical thinking, analysis, and communicating scientific knowledge effectively to audiences from diverse backgrounds. The experience also introduced students to approaches to science communication from an international perspective.
Another key component of the program was English language development at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang, Malaysia. Throughout the month-long experience, students practiced using English in authentic situations, including speaking, communication, and collaborative activities with international peers. They also had the opportunity to experience cultural diversity and adapt to life in an international environment.
In addition, students were able to transfer credits for the GEN67-122 and GEN67-123 courses, allowing them to gain not only valuable skills and international experiences, but also academic credits and new perspectives through overseas learning.
This international learning experience reflects the School of Science, Walailak University’s commitment to developing students with strong scientific knowledge alongside essential global competencies, including English communication, analytical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to learn and work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. These competencies are increasingly important for students preparing to pursue further education and careers in an interconnected global environment.
