Doctor of Philosophy – Plan 1 (Research only)
Admission to the Doctor of Philosophy- Plan 1 is open to students who have completed a Master of Science degree in Chemistry, or close equivalent one with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 or equivalent for Plan 1.1 or a Bachelor of Science (Honours) for Plan 1.2.
Doctor of Philosophy – Plan 2 (Course Work and Research)
Admission to the Doctor of Philosophy- Plan 2 is open to students who have completed a Master of Science degree in Chemistry, or close equivalent one or equivalent for Plan 2.1 or a Bachelor of Science (Honours) for Plan 2.2.
Doctor of Philosophy (Chemistry) structure
Candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy shall follow a parts-based course of study, which shall consist of totaling at least 16 or 24-course units, comprising:

Requirements
Plan 1.1
Total credits to the value of 16-course units normally consisting the only thesis. Candidates may complete a subject by passing at least 16-course units in a subject including:
- A thesis of 16-course units;
- At least 2-course units (not counting the credits), 1 course unit of two Scientific Writing course and 1 course unit of Seminars.
Plan 1.2
Total credits to the value of 24-course units normally consisting the only thesis. Candidates may complete a subject by passing at least 24-course units in a subject including:
- A thesis of 24-course units;
- At least 3-course units (not counting the credits), 1 course unit of two Scientific Writing course and 2 course unit of Seminars.
Plan 2.1
Total credits to the value of 16-course units normally consisting of taught courses and thesis. Candidates may complete a subject by passing at least 16-course units in a subject including:
- A thesis of at 12-course units;
- At least 4-course units, including where identified in the Schedule to the Degree and, and 1-course unit of two Scientific Writing course (not counting the credit) and any compulsory papers.
Plan 2.2
Total credits to the value of 24-course units normally consisting of taught courses and thesis. Candidates may complete a subject by passing at least 24-course units in a subject including:
- A thesis of at 16-course units;
- At least 8-course units, including where identified in the Schedule to the Degree and, and 1-course unit of two Scientific Writing course (not counting the credit) and any compulsory papers.
