The STT48 Held at Walailak University Has Already Kicked Off.

The 48th International Congress on Science, Technology and Technology-based Innovation, one of the long-lasting annual scientific meetings in Thailand, has already started. The congress’s theme Science and Technology for Advancing Towards SDGs will give scientists from all around the world a special opportunity to realize the importance of science and technology in addressing global challenges and finding long-term solutions that are advantageous to all. This year, the international congress is arranged by the Science Society of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King in collaboration with Walailak University. There are “more than 500 overseas and local participants from 18 countries,” said Professor Dr. Pranut Potiyaraj, chairperson of STT48. The congress includes 5 sessions and 9 symposiums chaired by eminent scientists. The technical program is rich and varied with 4 keynote speakers, 4 plenary speakers, and 68 invited speakers worldwide. “It is a great pleasure for me to be here at the opening of this congress since the theme and the program of this congress provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge which will facilitate the achievement of sustainable development goals,” said Associate Professor Dr. Thanuttkhul Mongkolaussavarat, President of the Science Society of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King. Walailak University President Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, on behalf of the host of STT48 said, “Walailak University is ready to be a part of global and frontier research universities, supporting high-quality education and academic research to promote the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals”. During the opening ceremony, there are keynote lecture by 2013 Nobel Laureate in Physiology/Medicine Professor Randy W. Schekman on the topic of Traffic of Cas9-gRNA Between Cultured Human Cells Mediated by Cell-Cell Contact, a lecture by world-renowned scientist Professor Emeritus Roland Von Bothmer on the topic of Science and Biodiversity – Use and Conservation of Genetic Resources for the Future, and the plenary lecture from the 2022 Outstanding Scientist of Thailand Professor Dr. Vip Viprakasit on the topic of Bringing Genomic Medicine to the Real-world Setting. This year’s congress is held from 29 November 2022 to 1 December 2022, at Walailak University. And next year, STT49 will be held at Prince of Songkla University Hatyai Campus.
