Project for the Promotion of Special Talents in Science and Mathematics Teaching (PSMT)

The PSMT Project aims to support undergraduate students with outstanding abilities in science and mathematics. The project covers the majors of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science, preparing students to become qualified teachers in secondary education institutions or schools designated by the PSMT Committee.
PSMT Scholar

1. Terms & Conditions of Scholarship

  1. Upon completion of undergraduate studies, scholars are required to pursue a master’s degree in Science Education, Mathematics Education, or Computer Education in institutions accredited for professional teacher certification by the Teachers’ Council of Thailand, as specified by the PSMT Committee.
  2. After graduation and receipt of professional teaching certification, scholars must serve as teachers in educational institutions under the Ministry of Education, Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC), or other institutions designated by the PSMT Committee.
  3. In cases where scholars are unable to fulfill the service obligation as required, they must compensate according to the terms and conditions stipulated in the scholarship contract.

2. Applicant Qualifications

  • General Qualifications
    • Must be a Thai national.
    • Must not be over 20 years of age.
    • Must uphold the democratic system of government with the King as Head of State.
    • Must demonstrate good conduct.
    • Must be physically and mentally healthy and free from serious contagious diseases or other conditions that may hinder education.
    • Must not be legally incompetent or quasi-incompetent.
    • Must not have been expelled from any educational institution due to disciplinary reasons.
  • Academic Qualifications
    • Must be studying in Grade 12 under the PSMT project and applying through TCAS with an approved study plan, with academic records covering at least five semesters since Grade 10.
    • Must have a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.00.
    • Must have a combined GPA in science and mathematics of not less than 3.25.
    • Must have taken the national aptitude tests administered by the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT), including TGAT (three sections) and TPAT3.
    • Must demonstrate interest and aptitude in science, mathematics, and technology through participation in academic activities, competitions, or related community service.

3. Application for Selection

Eligible applicants under Section 2 may apply for selection to the PSMT undergraduate program for Academic Year 2025 through the TCAS 2025 system or in accordance with the procedures announced by participating institutions via https://entry.wu.ac.th. Applicants must comply with all instructions and deadlines announced by the institution.

4. Qualifications of Scholarship Recipients

  • Must have completed Grade 12 with an approved study plan.
    • Must have a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.00.
    • Must have a combined GPA in science and mathematics of not less than 3.25.
  • Must have taken national aptitude tests administered by CUPT with the following minimum scores:
    • TGAT (three sections)
      English Communication (TGAT1): not less than 25%
      Critical Thinking (TGAT2): not less than 25%
    • Science, Technology, and Engineering Aptitude (TPAT3): not less than 35%
  • Must be selected and confirmed for admission to a science-related undergraduate program for Academic Year 2025.
  • Must not be currently receiving any other scholarship that entails obligations which may affect completion of studies in accordance with the program’s study plan, or appointment to employment for scholarship service obligations.
  • Must not have been diagnosed with any psychiatric disorder that may pose a danger to oneself or others, or that may hinder academic study or the performance of professional teaching duties.

5. Announcement of Scholarship Recipients

The PSMT Project Management Committee will announce the list of scholarship recipients under the PSMT Project, Level 4, Category 1 (Undergraduate Level) via the website www.ipst.ac.th/unit-psmt.

6. Scholarship Agreement

Scholarship recipients must report to sign the scholarship agreement as specified by the PSMT Project. Failure to comply shall be considered a waiver of scholarship rights.

7. Termination of Scholarship

The PSMT Project reserves the right to terminate scholarships in the following cases:

  • Applicants or scholarship recipients shall be deemed ineligible if they have falsified or forged any information or supporting documents related to the application, or if they have provided false information.
  • Lack of any general qualification as prescribed under Section 30 of the Teacher and Educational Personnel Civil Service Act, B.E. 2567 (2024), except for the general qualification concerning age under Section 30(2), as detailed in the attached document.
  • Entering government service as a teacher before reporting completion of studies for appointment to fulfill the scholarship service obligation.
  • Having been diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder that may pose a danger to oneself or others, or that may hinder academic study or the performance of professional teaching duties.
  • Receiving any other scholarship that entails obligations which may affect completion of studies in accordance with the study plan of the enrolled program, or appointment to employment for the fulfillment of scholarship service obligations.
  • Termination of student status in accordance with the regulations of the enrolled program before graduation. In the event that problems arise or there are limitations that prevent compliance with this announcement, the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), through the Subcommittee on the Administration of Teacher Production under the PSMT Project, shall consider and take action as deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis. The decision of the Subcommittee shall be final.

8. Application Procedure

Applicants must apply via http://entry.wu.ac.th by:

  • Registering for a username and password.
  • Logging into the system and selecting the desired science program.
  • Uploading required documents:
    • Copy of national ID card.
    • Academic transcript (minimum four semesters).
    • Portfolio and additional documents as required.
  • Paying the application fee of 300 THB via designated payment channels.

9. Additional Conditions

  • Interview selection is primarily at the discretion of the Program Selection Committee.

  • If documents are later found to be incorrect/incomplete or qualifications do not meet requirements, the application is void, and fees will not be refunded.

  • Confirmed candidates will be sent to the CUPT Clearing House system and must confirm rights at https://student.mytcas.com

  • Rights must be waived through the CUPT website only.

  • Fees are non-refundable after waiving rights.

  • Programs with fewer than 10 confirmed students may be cancelled.

Undergraduate Level Scholarship

The scholarship provided during undergraduate studies covers the following expenses:

  1. Tuition fees at the actual cost, not exceeding THB 240,000 per program.

  2. Allowance for textbooks and supplementary reading materials in the amount of THB 20,000 per program.

  3. Financial support for curriculum-based research activities in the amount of THB 10,000 per program.

  4. Computer allowance in the amount of THB 25,000 per program.

  5. Personal living expenses in the amount of THB 112,800 per year (THB 9,400 per month) for a period of up to four years (not exceeding 48 months).

Master’s Level Scholarship

The scholarship provided during master’s studies covers the following expenses:

  1. Tuition fees at the actual cost, not exceeding THB 200,000 per program.
  2. Allowance for textbooks and supplementary reading materials in the amount of THB 20,000 per program.
  3. Financial support for curriculum-based research activities in the amount of THB 20,000 per program.
  4. Personal living expenses in the amount of THB 128,400 per year (THB 10,700 per month) for a period of up to two years (not exceeding 24 months).
