Impacts of human activities on the ecosystem of Ban Don Bay, Surat Thani Province
This research project was conducted to study land use, water quality and sediment around the Ban Don Bay area within a radius of 10 kilometers from the coast. The results of the first year study revealed that most of the land use was agricultural land comprising oil palm and rubber and aquaculture areas. As for the sources of pollution, it was found that there were a total of 89 pollution sources, most of which were related to rocks, soil, sand, cement or the like. The results of the analysis of physical, chemical and biological water quality and sediment data in the stream area and in Bandon Bay showed that most of the values were within the standard. In addition, no pesticide was found in water, sediment and aquatic animals.
